A Message From The President & CEO

Dear Friends, As the holiday season approaches, there’s so much to look forward to and celebrate at GOSO! The work we’ve accomplished this year has been nothing short of life-changing for the young individuals we serve, and you’ve been a crucial part of making it happen. Thanks to your generosity, we’ve helped countless people break down barriers and build paths to brighter futures.

A recent highlight was our 2nd Annual Our Voices Ourselves event held on October 17th, where over 120 GOSO advocates gathered to honor volunteer art therapist Anelle Miller and The Child Center of New York for their unwavering commitment to the young individuals we assist. This event also aimed to highlight the incredible women who have made significant contributions to our mission, raising awareness about the critical issue of mental health, a challenge that affects not only our communities but the entire country.

Thank you to everyone who supported this year’s inspirational event! Click here for a full recap, and let’s keep this powerful momentum going into the new year! With gratitude, Michelle Pryce-Screen

GOSO Music Masterclass
Program Highlight — Music Masterclass

Empowering Participants through Music

Every week, GOSO staff members hold a Music Masterclass twice a week, bringing together participants who share a love and interest in music. This is an opportunity for them to explore all things music, including performance, songwriting, recording, and self-branding.

Recently, music executive Jason Flom and WME music agent Josh Sanchez joined to share their personal stories, discussing how they got their foot in the door, stayed motivated, and used their competitiveness to advance in the industry.

The Music Masterclass is one of the many programs offered by GOSO that allows our participants to express themselves creatively and connect with their peers.

SAVE’S visit with the Governor

Governor Kathy Hochul, alongside gun safety advocates, including our very own Chief Advocacy Officer, Omar Jackson, and SAVE’s Director of Programs, Nicole Myers, celebrated a significant milestone in the fight against gun violence. They marked the decline in gun violence with the signing of a six-bill package to strengthen New York’s gun laws.

As we celebrate this progress, we remain focused on continuing the vital work needed to build safer communities. Click here to learn more about these critical steps toward a future free from gun violence.
