As of today, GOSO is proud to announce that Michelle Pryce-Screen is GOSO’s President and CEO, adding to her role as Chief Program Officer, expanding her leadership as GOSO continues to deepen its focus on participants and the community, putting education, employment, emotional well-being, and violence interruption and prevention for at risk and formerly incarcerated young adults at the center of all we do.
Michelle has worked closely with Vikki Pryor, GOSO’s President and CEO, for the last two years, to implement our strategic and operating plans, expand programming for an increased number of individuals in need with crucial funding from New York City, the City Council, New York State, Federal, private, and individual donors, and generally increase care to court-involved and incarcerated individuals in need of these critical services. While at GOSO, Michelle played a key role on the leadership team that expanded participant participation by 30 percent and introduced new literacy and mental health programming. Last year, Michelle worked to open a new mental health clinic in partnership with the Child Center of New York which allows GOSO to offer a wider scope of care to participants in need of these critical services. We heartily thank Vikki Pryor for her commitment to GOSO and her accomplishments as President and CEO and we are excited she will be continuing as Executive in Residence to assist with the transition.
Michelle’s increased responsibilities are the result of over two years of programmatic and participant growth at GOSO, building upon the organization’s 20-year history of providing crucial services and support to over 15,000 at-risk and criminal legal system-impacted young adults. She is building upon GOSO’s success, while ensuring the organization meets the ever-evolving and increased needs of participants. Michelle brings strong non-profit leadership experience and a commitment to social justice from a 25+-year career in key roles with The Fortune Society, Women in Need, Hope Community Inc and Phoenix House.
This is an investment in the sustainability of GOSO now and for years to come, and a strengthening of GOSO’s commitment to its mission.
