That’s a wrap!
Last night, more than 200 guests gathered at the New-York Historical on Thursday and raised to support GOSO’s anti-violence, literacy, education, employment programs and expanded mental health clinic, and to honor exonerated Central Park Five Member Yusef Salaam, Emmy-Award winning Journalist Tamron Hall among others. GOSO marked 20+ years of improving the quality of life for thousands of young people in NYC.
GOSO is “a movement that believes in the power of second chances” which is “redefining futures,” said CEO and President Michelle Pryce-Screen.
WABC-TV host Sade Baderinwa hosted, helping GOSO additionally honor stalwart supporters Jean Altier, Réginald André, Court Golumbic, Steve Sachs, Troy Thornton, Monali Vora, Whitney Watson, and Suzzanne Yao of Goldman Sachs. Participants performed original poetry and spoke about GOSO’s positive impact on their lives, including AJ, who worked with SAVE junior violence interrupter program, which led him to achieve his GED through GOSO and Quan-Shay, who said of GOSO: “If I fell, they picked me up: GOSO, a family I once didn’t have/it’s more than a program, it’s a village.”
“I am grateful to the sponsors, board members and supporters who recognize the crucial role GOSO plays in the lives of young people in NYC,” Pryce-Screen shared. “Recently, we expanded our services to meet the increased needs of our participants. The generous support we received will allow us to continue the important work of uplifting the individuals we serve and giving them essential resources they need to succeed.”
“I commend GOSO’s hard work to help level the playing field for those who have been incarcerated and am honored to accept the 2025 Justice Award,” said Dr. Yusef Salaam. “I am proud to advocate for GOSO participants and for all those who have suffered the devastating impacts of mass incarceration to have access to better futures.”
“I’m proud to accept this year’s pinnacle award and celebrate an organization that inspires all of us to look for ways to support the next generation in our communities,“ remarked Tamron Hall.
Réginald André (Legacy Supporter Award Winner, GOSO Board Member), paid tribute to GOSO: “As a longtime board member and supporter of GOSO’s mission, I’ve seen the difference GOSO makes every day as one of the most effective reentry and anti-violence organizations in New York City. I’m proud to have watched GOSO grow and evolve while maintaining the core values of meeting every participant where they are on a journey of education, employment and emotional well-being.”
