A non-profit that works to redirect young men from a life a crime is expanding into a new headquarters space in East Harlem.
Getting Out Staying Out (GOSO) is a reentry, youth and career development organization that serves young men, aged 16 to 24, citywide. It empowers them to avoid involvement in the criminal justice system by reshaping their futures through educational achievement, meaningful employment, and financial independence.
Transwestern Real Estate Services (TRS) brokered the 10-year lease for the group’s new 18,467 s/f headquarters at 2283 Third Ave. in East Harlem on behalf of the building ownership, Rockfeld Group.

Transwestern partners Lindsay Ornstein and Stephen Powers and senior associates Jake Cinti and Ned Pierrepont provided agency leasing services on behalf of the landlord. GOSO was represented in the lease by Reeves McCall, Anthony Manginelli and Ryan Alexander of CBRE.
In operation since 2004, GOSO has outgrown its space at 75 East 116th St. due to increased demand for its services and expansion to serving a wider group of participants. It will move to its new headquarters in first quarter 2021, occupying the first and second floors, as well as the lower level, in a building-within-a-building design.

“For the individuals we serve, GOSO is a second home and a bridge to opportunities that they have not previously been afforded. The location of all vocational training, high school equivalency, mental health, advocacy and job readiness programming in one facility located centrally in East Harlem will allow better integration of our programs and allow more participants access to the crucial services, advocacy and support and that GOSO provides.”

Located on the corner of 124th Street, 2283 Third Ave. was built in 2006 and consists of seven floors and 50,908 s/f of space. Signage availability along two streets provides a significant branding opportunity for GOSO.
The building has multiple dedicated entrances and is located within one block of the 4, 5 and 6 trains. Its upper floors house graduate students for the nearby New York College of Podiatric Medicine.
