On July 6th, GOSO’s Julia Friedman (LMSW, Career Manager and Director of Community Reentry) joined with other individuals and organizations committed to restorative justice for a panel discussion called “Breaking the Cycle: School to Prison Pipeline,” hosted by Repair the World NYC. Fellow panelists included the Red Hook Community Justice Center and the Crown Heights Community Meditation Center.
It was great to gather with fellow social work and justice advocates and to learn about organizations working on related issues, in addition to hearing the perspective of those in the community. Complementing the discussion was a performance by Theater of the Oppressed NYC, whose creative contribution made the issue of injustice incredibly relatable.
