GOSO relies on the generous donation of time and expertise by volunteers (like you!). Below are projects and programs for which we are currently recruiting volunteers. To learn more or to sign-up, please email the staff member noted below, subject line “I’m a GOSO Volunteer!”
UPSTATE CORRESPONDENCE PROGRAM
After being trained, volunteers will write to guys who connected with the program either at Rikers or upstate. The goal is for each volunteer to commit to stay in touch with at least one guy for a year. Keeping an ongoing connection to the GOSO community is considered significant with regard to positive outcomes. The training will be held January 9th via webcast. Volunteers will be accepted on a rolling basis. Contact Chelsea Kraimer at ckraimer@gosonyc.org.
TUTORING
Become a GoSo tutor. Contact Jenna Roth at jroth@gosonyc.org.
COACHES CLUB
Start training to become a volunteer mentor and join the Coaches Club. Mentors are matched with young men who are working with GOSO at its office in East Harlem. (See Good News for more information). Contact Lauren Bricker at lbricker@gosonyc.org.
